🚌 Bus evacuation drills were conducted around the district this morning. 🦺
Three times a year, our drivers conduct drills at each building to ensure that students are equipped with safety knowledge in case of an emergency.
Before practicing the evacuation portion of the drill, drivers go over an important review about setting the brakes, importance of reflectors, location of first aid kits and fire extinguishers, and how to get help. Students are then shown how to open emergency exits and the top hatch door. Finally, the importance of arranging a pre-determined assembly point is discussed before students spend time practicing how to get out of the bus safely.
This activity is run by the bus drivers with the support of department and building administration. Thank you to all involved for prioritizing safety for our students.

❤️ Bulldog Java was on site at Belfair Elementary to spread the love to our teachers through their mobile coffee service. Teachers were excited for this annual teacher appreciation week tradition and, as they arrived for their day, visited with the students who were setting up their coffee station in the front office. One student, Cooper, enjoyed traveling down memory lane after running into his Kindergarten paraeducator, Alicia Covert. A feel good day for ALL! Next stop for the Bulldog Java mobile appreciation service will be Thursday, when they travel to Sand Hill Elementary. Thank you Bulldog Java for helping make teacher appreciation week extra special for our amazing team of educators!

🕺🎷🚶♀️Beautiful Day for a Parade!🥁🚶🏻🎺🚶
Our band students, families, musical directors, and bus drivers had an early start this morning, heading off to compete in the 75th Annual Loyalty Days Parade in Long Beach, WA. Enthusiasm was high during the pre-parade-pep-talk from their music instructors, Chris Drewry and Matt Frost, and there was lots of laughing and joking as parents loaded up the trailer with all the instruments. The bands typically do very well in this competition, amassing many awards through the years they have been participating. We wish you the best of luck!

Families came out to celebrate the many cultures that make up the Huskies community at the International Festival hosted by Hawkins MS last month. Some brought their favorite dish to share, others came dressed in traditional costumes, and there was music and dancing to add to the ambience and fun. Despite an initial date change due to weather, the turnout was fantastic. Our 7th graders also had the chance to showcase their WA State History projects. Thank you to our MLL team, volunteers, and all who attended to make this such a successful event for our students and community.
